Species: Human

History: Wiki

Personality: Qing can be said to have two halves of his personality: professional and personal.

Professionally, Qing is someone who is perceived as upbeat, kind, and generally easy to get along with. Typically, he’s seen as the sort of person who’s impossible to get down, who speaks and acts with a particular level of grace and gentleness. Even when dealing with men who are too drunk to remember to keep their hands to themselves, he’s very careful to keep his tone metered and his words polite.

Personally, Qing is a much more complex person. Despite how easily he takes to his job, actually speaking to people is a difficulty for him on a day-to-day basis outside of work. The closer he is to someone, the more time he takes thinking about how to react, and as a result he often finds that the few people he does keep close relations to are difficult to talk to because he’s always worried about what they’ll think of any given thing he says.

Even so, Qing does try to be helpful to those closest to him. When someone’s having trouble, he’ll often speak with them and try to reassure them that it isn’t as bad as they think – often not even realizing that his personal worldviews make him much more wise than not. He’s understanding and open-minded, believing that you should never judge someone for their choices so long as those choices don’t harm someone else.

He’s got a strong sense of justice – doubly so with people he’s close to. It’s frustrating for him to have to bite his tongue when someone is in trouble, even though most of the time he knows he couldn’t help if he tried. When he sees others ignoring things, he’ll often step in despite his stature – something that’s gotten him into minor trouble in the past thanks to his size and general strength.

In reality, he’s not very brave – Qing has a romanticized view of things, but he’s actually very aware that what he wants to be and what he can be are two completely different things. In spite of his anger at people ignoring problems, he himself typically completely ignores them in relation to himself. It’s especially evident in his home life, where his father speaks his opinions harshly (although without meaning to be cruel).

Speaking of his home life, Qing is very much awkward around his parents. They’re both very traditional, and as a result they have trouble accepting Qing for what he is. It’s left his sense of self-worth and self-confidence considerably fractured, as he does often look to others for confirmation that what he’s doing is correct. He sees others’ struggles as noteworthy, but when looking at himself often questions whether he really does feel how he believes he does. In spite of his being typically uncomfortable in men’s clothing, he tends to feel like cross-dressing is a phase that he hasn’t quite grown out of – or that he’s somehow wrong for still feeling personally like a male.

Abilities:
- Despite his size, he can carry multiple full catering trays.
- Obviously, he has a pretty good memory – he’s a very accurate waiter. mostly he's just really normal

Sample:
It wasn’t the first time Qing had patched someone up. He worked in a restaurant, after all – injuries were something of a hazard of the trade. As a result, he’d known his way around a first aid kit for a long time.

This was no bandage-and-wrap injury. It wasn’t a simple cut or bruise or break. The depth of the wound was so much that nearly turned his stomach to see, but there was no time to worry about that, was there? It was just like work. If he hesitated, someone could lose a limb or worse.

“Please hold still. I have to clean the wound first, and this will probably sting.” His hands shook a little at first, largely because this was new to him. Yes, Qing was sure he knew how to do it, but… that didn’t make it any less new of a prospect, any less frightening somehow. Maybe it was a little more frightening, because it wasn’t something he knew how to do prior to arriving on the ship.
